Thank you so much for joining us today as we go into and stuff again to wrap up Women's appreciate your month. Man, look before I get into it, cousins, the kind of folks. What I want y'all to do is to show our queens appreciation. Whether it's your mom, sisters, grandma, your spouse, partner, significant other daughters, show'em appreciate some this month. Let them know how much you love and you would care about them, and you appreciate them, whether it's some small gesture, whether it's something big and grandy else. They deserve it, and they deserve it for so many different reasons, in so many different ways. So from us here at currently under construction, to all of our queens, we appreciate you, we love you, we dig you, we support you, we salute you. Care currently under construction. So today are we gonna wrap it up? When I'm gonna talk about a figure that she's still around, but she's not as common as a couple of generations of over but she's still around. And this figure. It,

1:32 it epitomizes what family is all about. She's to strength, the heartbeat, the glue that holds everything together. Y'all know who I'm talking for those of you that come from my generation and right behind me and possible right behind it, you all know who I'm talking talking about. I'm talking about whatever name that she goes by, she goes by many, many different names, but all it's the same title for her. And I'm talking about Mdel, not Tyler Perry's Mudia Mdear. That's who I'm talking about. M A d e A R. Mdel. That's who I'm talking about right now. Now.

2:35 For some of us, Madel was not Grandmama but great grandma. But again, Madel had different names. Whether she was Madel, whether she was Big Mama to song, whether she was Grandma to some, whether she is Memo to some, whether she is Nana to some, all represents the same woman, that same figure. All are rolled into one, you see.

3:17 And like I said, she's still around, but she's as scarce as it used to be. We gotta see. MDEA made everything all right. Mdel. It's the family matriarch. Mdel. It's the keeper of the family. Chronicle. And see, the family Chronicle comes in two different ways. It's verbally passed down and it's also written down. Well, what is it written down here? Oh? It is written down there, and we have all seen it, whether you've picked it up and looked in it or just walk by it. It's there. And I'm talking about that big old bible that looks like it's about four hundred and fifty years old, and it's got some real super thick covers and big old thick pages, and it is worn.

But that that bible holds the family Chronicle and written form, date of birth, date of passing children, cousins, aunt's, uncles, sisters, brothers, all going down, all going back several several generations. It's written down in that book. You ain't gotta go to Ancestry DNA uh uh uh me and me and twenty three and ancestry d DNA dot com and all that.

Now, you may not know who these people are, but you can ask, hey, who is such and such such and such? Oh yeah, oh okay, that's oh all right. But you'll know who they are, and you can ask questions about them, and they'll tell y'all all about them. I'll tell y'all all about them. Man madeal Mama Deal. Let me let me, let me tell you a little something about Mama Deal. Mama Deal was my great grandmother. She passed away in March of nineteen age a matter of fact, that craziest I runny thing is, and I clearly remember. Her funeral was forty years ago today, two day, forty years ago exactly. When I sit there and say madea and I think they hauled low, but that she's cut from a different cloth. She was hard, but she was fair, and like I told y'all before about my mom, how important her family is to her and everything that was Madel times a hundred. Her family was everything. But I'm gonna show you something when when madea spoke, regardless of where you fell it in line in the family, whether you wanted her children granted or whoever, whatnot, you listen, MADEA said something, it was law, you was gonna do it. But they're ranny everybody house? Do you hear me? Mamma Dea? She ran everybody house. So if somebody was in your house that Mada didn't want there, they got to go.

8:18 It wasn't no norma deal. I ain't fea and not that woman right there. If she said they had to go, they they had to go. Bottom line. There wasn't no if as a bus about it. There wasn't no shades of grace. She was absolute. Do you hear me? That woman? Now? Cause I'm a little boy then so cause I had to kind of look up at her. But but she she epitomized strength because really and truly she wasn't very tall for a woman in statue hepe for a woman, she wasn't very tall. But at the same time, I say, I started in my grandmother. I saw that my mom two. But my mom was tall, which where I this is where I got my hate from.

9:13 But that's neither here nor there. That's another story. We'll talk about that on another day. But my my deal wasn't very tall. But again she exuded its strength, so asked to me. I don't think Medeal was even taller than five two. But at the same time, she walked like she was seven foot two. Even outside of the family. When she talked, people listened. People listened to what missus Grant had to say. She listened, you they they listened. If she's saying, if send me to the store and stay, tell such such such ass to send me five pounds of salt salt, uh salt meat and and uh ten dollars worth of uh beans or whatever the case may be. And she may not send me in there with a die. But guess what when I say, who done sent me? They gonna send it. They gonna send it. No if ands or buts about it. Although my hometown we lived in it. It was a small city. But but there was the last person I ever saw the had a chicken coop, she had hugs, she had pigs, she had

10:48 chicken coop. We had fresh eggs. I literally have seen her, and I'll never forget it. I'll never be in on it. And I actually had to help it. I have actually seen her sloughter a pig, string it up, get that boiled hot water, old big old black head of water ready with all and all of that stuff they in to get them, old big old stiff bristol brushes dipped it. You know what I'm telling y'all too much, my bear to the yat to. But but listen, I've seen that. I've seen it. Woman sit up there and cut that bad boy up and everything else like that. I'm talking to my friend and root to. The two had fresh meat. I've seen her go out there.

11:33 She had in her garden. She got okrah and and and uh a corn and greens and stuff all out there that she had done, sit there and plant it. Although we lived in the city, she worked the land. She still worked the land. And she was the last that I see to do it. But she's had it. She had a nice, huge bit of property in her house, big huge house. I mean, looking at it from the outside, it didn't look that bill, you know, Yes it did, Yes, it did. It did still look big. It was maybe one, two, three, four bedrooms in that house, but she made one an technique was five cause she made like the den out of a bedroom where she slept in there. She never really slept in her actual bedroom. But we did had a cure for everything too. Something was wrong.

12:41 She had a cure for it. She did. She had a cure for it. Or whether it was something in old school or wherever the case, maybe someone around yea, she had a cure for it. And when winter time came, if one person got sick, and this is where my great uncles got this mess from it, I couldn't stand it. But when when the time come in, one person sleeves and got sick, sick, Okay, here we go. She fixed it. Get everybody to the house. Were all about to line up, and uh, it's most of y'all in my age group. You'll know most of these these things. I'm about to run down. But you were gonna get a dose of everything, not in this particular order, but you fix it. Get one dose of all of them. About to name castor or cod liver or three sixties cree emotion black draw Vix forty four you fixing to get I think I like that, say everything. Yeah, uh, you about to get a dose of all of that, and not in that specific order. If you threw it up, shame on you. You fel to come back and get another dose of everything again. Straight up, it didn't matter if you wasn't sick, you still about to get a dose of it again. There was no there was no there was no negotiating with the game in madea It was her way, a no way, but it was always gonna be her way. Believe that.

14:16 And I watched her. I watched her with my great uncles, and they was grown in their own house. You hear me now, I don't get me wrong, cause a lot of stuff that I saw him a deal dude that I don't agree with. I remember it as a kid. Looking back on it now as I look, I don't agree with. But for the most part, this woman was was everything to her family, and her family was everything to her. She wouldn't let nobody do anything to harm my family. She was gonna do everything she could to keep everybody together, celebrating birthdays, holidays, or whatever the case may be. She was definitely all about that. And even the way she showed it and it may have came up hard or whatever, but she again, the way she left her family.

15:18 You don't see that nowadays, you don't. But that mantle of hers that I can't quite describe it because I'm a man and not a woman. But whatever that mantle is that she had, that was passed down when she passed it the one to take care of the family, to keep everybody together. See, for some reason, it bypassed my grandmother and then went to my mom. So my mom in turn became a deal because my mama took care of everybody. My mom looked out for each other. Everybody came to my mama for everything. Stella, how do you do this? Make it?

16:15 How you do that? What can I do to put on put the U T to put on this right here? How can I fix this right here? She was the one. I don't know how it's passed, but for me, I wanted to say, that's something we need to get back to as a whole, as a community, as a family, because see, she not only was mcdea and everything to us, but to everybody in our neighborhood. Everybody looked out for miss Lett. That was her nickname. Everybody looked out for Miss Lett or Miss Granted. Everybody. She was the neighborhood mama, grandmama and whatever whatnot. Everybody did. Everybody looked out for her. Everybody came to make sure that she was okay. Even though she still got up every morning, made her own bread and everything like that, still did for herself and everything like that, but people came by to make sure Miss Grant was good, that she was okay. Something need fixing that just you know, she couldn't get up there fixing herself or one of my uncles s up there and do it. Guess what, somebody was coming to do it. Somebody was gonna come do it. It was gonna get done.

17:49 So she was like the neighborhood mom and mama and grandmama to everybody. And we need to get back to that. We need to get back to that. That's why I say she's around. She's still here. It's just so so uh so, she's she spreads so thin right now and she's so rare, But Mdea is still there. Mdel is still there. We need to get Big Mama to the love that she's so properly deserved. We need to give her her flowers, not just today and not just this muth and each and every day, because it's women like her that was on their knees every night to the most high praying for her family. That was her doing everything that she could to make sure that her family was good, regardless how far down the line you were. That was her to sit there and see when you then went too far to the left or to the right, to sit up there and had to take you say, hey, come in, you're doing too much. Put some pump your brakes. Maybe not in those

19:23 exact words, cause they don't nothing about there, because if I mentioned something like that till right now, she'd be like, what were you talking about? What is your malfunction? But that's what they do. They have to forceight to see. They see things that we don't see. They are in communication, even with the ancestors. Cause there were things. But dear, I remember clearly I've heard telling me about the ancestry ancestors that I'll never forget.

It's things that but they're no and we need to pay attention. So for all of y'all out there that still have your medeas, your nanas, your ggs, your big mama's, see, Martin made a joke about that, you know, uh uh talking about you know uh what that was it, Martin, I'm sorry that was uh. Steve Harvey made a joke of saying the big mama and around him all you know what I'm saying, they just have the you know, slept Bernie Mack, Bernie Mack, y'all. I he did it on the Kings of Comment. I don't know why I thought, Steve Harvey. Bernie Mack said, you know, she got a weird cock to the side when she walked in her anchors, a little swollen, you know, and she kind of shuffled her feet. Yeah that's big Mama.

But baby, if you get sick, you need praying over, You need somebody to go to God for you. You need somebody to sit there and and help you out with something. Cause my mama Medea and everything. They was everything. They was your counselor, that was your doctor. They was your prayer person, your prayer person. They was your uh, your your advisor, your financial advisor. They had all of that. I'm telling even if it didn't come off to something that you want to sit at that time, I guarantee you ninety nine point nine percent of the stuff that they told you work.

That's big mama, y'all. That's what deal. That's what they do. That's what they do. And these ladies may or may not have been the most educated, most some most are. When they're telling you something, don't sit there and think that they're, Oh, they just talking about something back there.

That's timeless advice, that's timeless love that they give you. They didn't help paved away, They help paved away. And the strength that these ladies have is immeasurable. You can't you can't count it, you can't put a price tag on it. Nothing, you can't at all. So again to all close out our women's appreciate your mother, my dear grandma, granny, me maa big mama, whatever name she is. To you go hug her, Go tell her, thank you, tell her how much you love her.
